GPS Absolution (July 10, 1999 - March 15, 2003), Absolution II (March 17, 2003 - March 17, 2007)
Moltar wanted a more personal look at the transmissions he was sent by Clyde 49. He wanted to explore the universes himself, but limited in both tools and technology. So, instead of building a ship himself like he was going to do, Moltar simply bought one, a huge vessel he dubbed the Ghost Planet Spaceship Absolution.
The Absolution was a top-of-the-line nuclear-powered space vessel fit for exploration of multiple universes and dimensions, something Moltar was looking for. The thing about the Absolution was that it was an older spaceship. Sure, it could do the job, but certain parts were becoming out of date, particularly the ship's computer and engines. Regardless, Moltar felt that it was the right vessel for the job.
One of the primary reasons this vessel was a draw to Moltar was due to the fact that it had an AI unit that could operate the Absolution. However, he know how to make it work. So, Moltar needed someone to manually operate the Absolution. After witnessing the heroic acts of a sentient robot named TOM, Moltar recruited him to become the Toonami Operations Module, the pilot and maintenance droid of the Absolution. On July 10, 1999, both TOM and the Absolution made their debut to the world, courtesy of Cartoon Network.
The Absolution was capable of directly transmitting signals to the Ghost Planet and any other terrestrial locations that want to broadcast the wave of action-animation programming known as Toonami. However, TOM never truly understood the mysterious vessel nor the secrets it held. Nearly a year after he began his duties aboard the Absolution, TOM unlocked the AI unit known as SARA. An instant bond was made. However, their friendship nearly ended because of the actions of a metal-eating creature that invaded the Absolution. TOM and SARA tried all they could to stop the intruder, but it seemed like nothing could stop it. TOM was killed by the Intruder, but SARA had a plan. After spending time observing and interfacing with TOM, she copied his matrix and memories into a new shell in the top level of the Absolution. With the new shell, TOM faced the intruder one more time. Making sure it was completely destroyed, TOM planted numerous explosion devices in the area where the intruder was growing. He succeeded, but a huge chunk of the Absolution was missing.
For a brief period, the Absolution was at a repair station, where it was being repaired and a pair of new engines were being installed. Afterwards, TOM and SARA resumed their journeys throughout the galaxy, including a mission to save another spaceship and a time when the Absolution was stuck in hyperspace mode, a new feature introduced after the new engines were installed.
The reign of the original Absolution came to an end after a mysterious bounty hunter, who kidnapped SARA's main matrix processor, destroyed the vessel with a series of explosions. The kidnapper also faced TOM and ordered him to be ripped to shreds. With the help of underground robot prisoners, TOM was rebuilt into a bigger, stronger being, and the hero saved SARA and the prisoners. The freed robots awarded TOM and SARA with a new space vessel, a bigger vessel with several weapons built in and even more catacombs, redubbed the Absolution in honor of the original vessel that had been a part of their lives.
Today, the Absolution continues to transmit broadcasts as well as serving as the transfer station of the new generation of Clydes, who are now scouring alien planets for information. As Toonami contines to grow, it's certain that the Absolution will be the vessel that'll take you there.
