So, now that I've created TV Disney and a new version of The Disney Channel, some may think that they'll largely be carbon copies of each other or airing the same shows at the same time. Completely untrue. In fact, both networks will share only 5 - 10% of total programming as each network will likely have their own lineup. The majority of the lineups are unique for the networks. Let me give you an example of the type of programming that could be found on both channels.
TV Disney could air a marathon of Hannah Montana on a Saturday night starting with the Best of Both Worlds concert movie followed by six episodes for the rest of the night. That's typical of what you'd find already. Meanwhile, over on The Disney Channel, they could have An Absent-Minded Night with a marathon of Flubber, Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, and the original black-and-white version of The Absent-Minded Professor, with Ludwig Von Drake shorts seen between movies and have the whole thing hosted by Bunsen and Beaker. While TV Disney premieres new episodes of Sonny With A Chance and Wizards of Waverly Place on Friday and Saturday night, The Disney Channel can premiere a recent Disney theatrical film or present a network premiere of a classic Disney film every Sunday at 7 PM E/P under The Wonderful World of Disney banner, which would be exclusive to The Disney Channel.
TV Disney and The Disney Channel wouldn't cannibalize each other. TV Disney would feature newer kid-friendly franchises like The Wizards of Waverly Place, Phineas and Ferb, Camp Rock, and others while The Disney Channel will be cross-generational mixing properties like the Muppets, Mickey Mouse, and Walt Disney Presents with one of the greatest libraries of family entertainment the world has ever seen from Disney, Pixar, and Jim Henson's Muppets. In a way, it'd be the best of both worlds and the truest example of the Disney tradition.
And it'd be all good.
