First Toonami Show To Have Its Debut As A Pilot

First Cartoon Network Original to Premiere On Toonami

Throughout the history of giant robot animation, a series comes along to stick its thumb on the nose of tradition, not playing to the standards created by the industry, but often mocking it. In recent years, we've seen Gekigaiger (the show within a show on Nadesico) and DaiGuard (which chronicled a trio of pencil pushers who piloted a very defective robot). One show to join such an elite class currently airs in the heart of the new Toonami lineup, and it takes place in, of all places, New Jersey.

Coop, a slacker/grease monkey who loves to eat, play video games, and watch wrestling, has customized a giant robot that was found buried in a landfill. What he didn't know was the mech was sent back in time by Kiva, a soldier who ventures back in time to retrieve the unit, which is called the MEGAS XLR. Needless to say that she was surprised to see the Megas customized, and almost unrecognizable. So, now you have Coop, Kiva, and Coop's bud Jamie, who definitely needs a spine, crusing around Jersey taking on all challenges like a self-replicating unstoppable being known as the REGIS, a canned cheese monster, a quintet that's very similar to several multicolor hero groups, and a galactic wrestling federation.
