During the long, unexpected hiatus I took, I've realized something about the state of animation news coverage. There are two kinds of ways to look at the news. You either regurgitate it verbatim or you share a somewhat-biased opinion about it under the guise of news.

Those that just spit out facts that networks and studios give them are, more or less, unpaid employees of those entities. You're doing the work that the studios are too lazy to do on their own. It's free advertisement and nothing more than corporate spin and control. When the media controls the press, there is something lost in translation.

Then you have those that share news items only to use the space to espouse their own biases against or for the people behind the items. There's nothing wrong with having biases for or against an entity, but don't use those biases when it comes to covering a news item. In the nearly 13 years I've been doing this site, I'll admit, I do have my biases, but I'm honest and upfront about them, and I rarely editorialize news bytes in the news cycle. I save my opinions for pieces like Thoughtnami and Gephyrophillia.

Unlike other sites, I know the readers are pretty smart and savvy about what's going on in the news, which is why I don't regurgitate news items networks and studios spill and spin out there. I give an opinion analyzing a news item as I see it. I look at it through a historical perspective and with a critical eye. Yes, I tend to use humor from time to time, but I tend to stick with critical thinking on my part, try not to patronize nor talk down to you, the reader. I try to have fun with my articles, and I'd like the readers to have fun as well.

I won't lie to you, and I'll try to remain humbled and on level ground, and as long as you guys continue to read the site, I'll keep crossing bridges.

Keep creating.
