"The Guardian has been a legend since I heard about him when I was a kid. If he does exist, he's gotta be, what, 90 or something?" - Perry White, Guardian of the Night

Guardian is one of the few heroes of Metropolis, but unlike his caped counterpart, this shield-flinging hero doesn't get a lot of accolades He is a clone of an officer named Jim Harper and closely connected to a clandestine organization known as Cadmus. His purpose in Metropolis to to be the government's eyes on its newer heroes, including Superman.

"The death of Superman has proven that more than ever, we are the protectors of the city. We have earned that right more than anyone before us, and we honor his memory by continuing to fight the never-ending fight." - Detective Maggie Sawyer, The World Reacts

The Metropolis Special Crimes Unit exists as the line of defense when Superman can't do it alone, led by Detectives Maggie Sawyer and Dan Turpin. They've been partners for years as police officers. Dan is sarcastic and a bit headstrong while Maggie is level-headed yet blunt. Dan's married with adult children while Maggie lives with Toby Raines, a TV reporter. They are the best Metropolis has to offer when it comes to dealing with the metahuman criminals of Metropolis.

"The world needs heroes that are OF this world, and tomorrow, I'm going to present them to the world, whether they want them or not." - Lex Luthor, Infinity

Team Infinity is Lex Luthor's team of young, fairly inexperienced heroes he hoped would take some of the spotlight from Superman. Skyman is the public face and field leader of the team. He is joined by Nuklon, Jade, Fury, Silver Scarab, and Matrix as the new, youthful faces of heroism.

"Don't remind me of Irons. I'm sorry we let him go. Brilliant mind, Skilled technician. But he had a strange case of pacifism and conscience that I felt was viral and contagious." - Lex Luthor, Heart of Danger

Steel is the alter-ego of John Henry Irons, a former LexCorp inventor turned weapons designer for S.T.A.R. Labs. After the revelation that Intergang is using a weapon design he made for LexCorp but never got out of the planning stages, he decided to wage a one-man war against Intergang wearing a suit made of a unique metallic polymer he created for S.T.A.R. Labs. He models his outfit in homage to Superman and becomes a valued ally to the hero.

Project Cadmus and S.T.A.R. Labs are one and the same, though the general public believes they are two different entities, as does many of the workers within the company.

"I don't have a daughter. I have a child that looks like this one woman I married long ago that practices something that folks in fishnets, top hats, and capes perform on the Vegas strip." - Dr. Thirteen, Truth

Traci Thirteen is the daughter of Cadmus' skeptic paranormal expert Dr. Thirteen, though he has abandoned her because she practices magic, just like her mother. Taking it in stride, Traci grew aware of the world around her (as well as the dimensions beyond this world) and often serves as Superman's guide into the mystical world.

"The thing about the Batman is that he doesn't trust anybody. I know he doesn't trust me. He works alone and a creature of the night. Fortunately for Gothamites, he fights for them instead of against them." Superman (narration), Gotham By Moonlight

The Batman is in Gotham City. Don't go to Gotham City.
