Why We Are

The whole reason for the creation of the Toonami Inner Circle Alliance was to spread the word about this block called Toonami.

We want to spread the word to television audiences, those that consider animation lame, those that consider anime evil, and to Cartoon Network on how underappreciated the block is and how they could make it better.

We are a part of a revolution, a rebellion against things that are considered traditional and normal. We're strange and unusual. Toonami is strange and unusual, and it's the spirit of the block that has led to the creation of the Inner Circle. Let's face it. Toonami's far from being a traditional animation block, breaking the rules since it's creation. Afterall, the odds were against the creators of the block, Williams Street, from the beginning. These were the guys who created Space Ghost Coast To Coast, another show that was doomed to fail. The critics and cynics said, "Today's audiences won't watch classic 80's action-animation." They were wrong (and I still think they're still wrong; DVD distributors are now "getting it"). They said "Today's audiences won't watch anime like DBZ and Sailor Moon, which failed in syndication." They were wrong (boy, were they wrong). "Today's audiences aren't ready for shows like Gundam Wing and Tenchi Muyo." They were wrong. And the revolutionary attitude Williams Street had became inspirational to the viewers of Toonami, and the same attitude that inspired me to create this site and launch the campaign.

Our purpose is to spread the word about Toonami. Why? Because we feel that Toonami is the best showcase for the best in action-animation and we want Cartoon Network and various studios to realize that as well. Toonami shows are looked upon very highly and often with praise. Viewers realize that Toonami knows how to market their shows as well as treat shows with tender loving care, particularly the shows they had a hand in editing. Even fans of Adult Swim are in awe over the treatment of the shows on Toonami (maybe not in awe, but . . . well, you know). Over the years, Toonami has seen highs and lows. In the low moments of the block, the TICA started several campaigns (physical campaigns, not web petitions because, um, web petitions don't really work) and we have opened the eyes of Cartoon Network on numerous occasions. Recently, we've started Revolution 11, a campaign engineered to bring back respect and love to perhaps one of the most important animation blocks ever created.

Why do we do this?

We love Toonami.

We appreciate the fact that Cartoon Network has given the public the perfect action-animation block.

We appreciate CN for introducing a lot of popular anime franchises to an unsuspecting crowd, thus becoming the greatest thing to happen to an entire industry.

But some folks just want the block to die? Why? Fear of TOM? Fear of the mainstream acceptance of anime? Whatever the reason, Toonami is the best thing to happen to action-animation, and we, the members of TICA, will fight to make sure it lasts a long, long time. All the members share the same love for the Toonami block, which is why we're all together. All the sites provide something important, whether it's news, multimedia needs, a place to talk about the block, a database of Toonami information, or a commentary outlet.

We're the Toonami Inner Circle Alliance, and we're just getting started.
